Mmm fresh granola over fresh fruit with cream! The perfect snack for JT. I prefer my granola plain with milk or over a warm bowl of oatmeal. The granola has the most wonderful flavor. It fills the kitchen with amazing heartwarming smells.
Granola is easy to make...as so much better than store bought. I love it..and it makes great gifts, in canning jars (Wonderful idea, Anne!) Simple pleasures.
Recipe (source)
1/2 cup oil
1/3 cup maple syrup
zest from 2 oranges
Bring to boil then add:
1/3 cup honey
Pour over:
4 cups old fashioned oats
1 cup almonds (I don't use)
1 cup cashews (I don't use)
1/3 cup sesame seeds (I don't use)
2 tea cinnamon
1/2 tea nutmeg
1 cup coconut
Bake 375 on one baking sheet (recipe says 2 pans) for 15 minutes. Stir often, burns very easily, until golden. Remove from oven and add:
1 cup assorted dried fruit.
