Epic Mac and Cheese Taste Test

My older daughter has been called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She will serve for a period of 18 months at the Nauvoo Historic Sites. What does this mean for us? We won't see her for that time. She is our first one leaving the nest. This propelled me into asking her last week, "What food do you want before you go?" She said she wanted a mac and cheese taste test with all my recipes. Her hope was that she would eat so much mac and cheese she wouldn't crave it while she was away!

So began a two day mac and cheese feast. We made 10 recipes in all. 4 for Monday dinner, 3 for Tuesday lunch, and 3 for Tuesday dinner. She left on Wednesday morning. They were all great but we did have some favorites! Our CT created fun labels so we could keep everything straight. Neighbors and friends helped devour heaps of pasta.

Found online this Chick Fil A copy cat mac and cheese is a favorite. We don't make it a lot because it takes a pricy cheese but when we do make it we love it. It was a favorite of the taste test.

New to using an instant pot this year, we have found recipes that are now go to family dinner recipes. This mac and cheese recipe is one of those. We have tried 3 different instant pot recipes but this Six Sister's recipe is a fav. It is quick, MT's personal favorite, has great flavor, and it reheats well the next day.

We liked Tyler Florence's mac and cheese with peas and bacon but sadly it didn't make the top 3. It is a fun change. Making mac and cheese in the crock pot is fun. This was a favorite of our friend, Rock Debi. Six Sister's slow cooker recipe was not in the top 3 but possibly...maybe should have been.
Everyone's favorite across the board was my own sister's mac and cheese recipe that I have been using for years. Creamy, easy, and tasty.

Our family loves taste tests. We love good food. We adore mac and cheese. We haven't done a mac and cheese taste test in 5 years! Way too long to be having that kind of fun. Now Sister Taylor will have all the recipes in one spot. We love this girl..even more than mac and cheese.
